  • I-864 Need Advises- Unstable income last year

    Hello everyone,

I just got married last month and is preparing my immigration application now. My husband, an US citizen, currently has a decent job which is over property line, but he was oversea as a exchange student last year so didn't make much money (Only few thousands). I have a stable job since last year and our incomes combining is far over property line. I'm not sure should i also include my income in I-864 because my husband is making enough money this year? If I only use his income, is it possible that USCIS thinks my husband's income is still unstable because he didn't make enough money last year?(He's also currently a college student)

    Thanks in advance!

My income was super low for the previous three years and in my experience they only care about current income. I sent a letter explaining why my income was low and unstable before (in school) and there were no problems. My current income was barely above poverty level and I had just started the new job so I didn't even have any long history or pay stubs. Only an employer letter.

I'm not sure if you should include your income I'd see what rayb has to say about that. Are you working legally?
