  • AOS First interview feels like a strokes interview

I pray I don't fall into depression today. My interview this morning wasn't the most pleasant experience. Why me Lord?

About 5 mins into the interview, the IO decided to separate my husband and I and asked personal questions about our daily life, work and income. My husband had a criminal past that I think raises eyebrows but we did the best we could. I was in there for over 30-45mins, questions after questions. We didn't have a joint account due to his poor banking history. We tried and couldn't get one together.

In the end, she gave us a sheet of paper with application under review. My husband (petitioner) was the last one to be interviewed so I didn't get the chance to ask what next? My husband is the very impatient type and kinda got irritated at the repeated questions. We had similar answers expect for some questions we weren't too sure of. For instance, I don't know how much and where my husband purchased my engagement ring and when she asked him, he told her but I never asked so I don't know.

When in tensed situations like this, you get so nervous and fumble on the questions.

I forgot to add, she asked where I keep my passport and told her where it normally is, that's in my closet. My husband said he doesn't know. That's nothing but the truth. She then asked what time I get off work, I said not later than 5-6. My hubby said around 4. You see, little discrepancies because no one walks around knowing every single detail. I'm stressed out!!!

Whew!!! Does anyone know what's next? Would there be another strokes interview?

It's very possable, u may have another stroke interview or u may not. I know if for any reason they doubt the marriage, they will go to the ends of the world, to prove what they believe. Yes, they usually ask your work hours, and couples usually knows this. However, they may take things further to watch, if u both genuinely live together........
There is no need to be fearful, though, once you know your marriage is genuine.

      im stress out too

me and my wife been marry for over 10 years , we had the interview on april 22th 2015 in NYC , IO didnt ask me over 3 questions, told me to bring my daughter out of the office let my wife stay, she was freaky out , when she came out her eye was red, she told me IO believe our marriage is real, but the only thing she want to see is the proof of entry , because my wife never have one. that is the only thing they care about on our case, even my daughter is a special kid needs special care, they never ask , what is the big deal, my wife stay in the usa for over ten years no bad record, pay tax, i mean whyyyyyy! IO gave her a letter, the letter was about decision will be make in 60 days and will mail to us, my wife been crying for couple days already since left the immigraiton office , she doesnt think they going to approve it. we work so hard to get her stay legal ,we spent so much time and money on this, just because she doesnt have a proof of entry, oh my lord this is so unfair, god help us!

So sorry to hear of your ordeals. We didn't get the true facts of your case, therefore, it's not possible to give suitable answers. Well, if your entry into the USA, is in question, then that's just the rule of law, and the IO, hands are tied. His job is to obtain certain things from you or else his job is at stake. I hope you understand that.

There is a rule of law, whereby, If your entry isn't legal, you could face deportation and a ten years band, before your husband can continue your filing. I hope you are NOT, in this position as I hoping for the best for you.
Then again, if that was the case, they could have informed you up front.
Fingers crossed and hope for a positive outcome.
        Good luck!!!
