I-485, how long do I need to wait for green card?

Hello. I have a question regarding my status on I-485. This is my situation.

My family and I filed an I-485 for green card and been waiting. I am currently maintaining my student status on my F-1 visa.

We had our bio-metrics in Oct of last year, received Employment Authorization Card in Dec, everything went well at this point, but no news for green card until now. It's been half year since then and my family is getting frustrated over this.

I know some people got their green card in few months but in some worst cases, I heard some took few years to get their green card.

Can someone tell me their timeline on getting green card through I-485? Do you think I can get mine before September of this year?

I am really desperate on this and need some advice.. I was thinking of writing a letter to USCIS if this takes any longer but I highly doubt if it's going to make any difference..

Wait or Call the USCIS about your situation.

As i heard if you are under FBAS or Family Based and Adjustment Status. The VISA NUMBER are available to the immediately family but in student visa or F1 you have to wait for monrhs or years that the VISA is available for you. Only the immediate family are already available. Example your petitioner is a USC and married to alien and other belongs to FBAS.
