  • Green card interview 2nd marriage

    Hi All,

I am looking for some advice and anyone with previous experience in the same circumstance would be appreciated. I am a U.S. Citizen and my wife is from Mexico We have been married since October 2014 and are going for our green card interview in just a few days. This is her first marriage, however I was previously married, and in fact my ex spouse came here in a K1 fiancé visa. I married my ex spouse in November 2011 and in good faith. It was a legit relationship we dated for about 2 years leading up to it. Unfortunately about 6 months after being married we realized we were very different people, arguing everyday and had some irreconcilable differences. We separated in mid 2012 and I filed for divorce in August of 2012 ( which is about the time I started dating my current wife). The divorce was finalized in May 2013. All this info is on the i130 and 485 that my current wife and I submitted with our paperwork.

I was hoping for some tips from anyone with knowledge or in a similar situation. Also any re commendations on questions the IO may ask me on my previous marriage etc etc. any help appreciated and I will let all know how everything goes. Thanks!!

I'm not sure, or quite remember if your previous marital status was asked on your Forms. You mentioned that you didn't Inform USCIS..... If you avoided your pass status when it was asked, then that would be trouble at your interview

However, if not, then there's no need to be fearful, IOs knows that things happens and not all marriages work. Just represents yourself honestly and boldly; making sure you have all the facts that leads up to your divorce and also your divorce Decree from your previous marriage.
    Good luck!!

Thanks Mary! I meant to say all the info IS on the i130 and i485 the I filed. I had a typo originally so the IO will already know the details, and yes I have a copy of the divorce. Thanks.
