  • AOS questions ( process)

    Hello all ,
I am an RN with a bachelor's degree. I have been on H1 visa. My employer as finally decided to file the AOS for me ( 7 years working for them now) . Long story short, my EAD has been approved as well as my advanced parole . Can anybody tell me how long it takes on average for the i 485 to be approved in my case ? My paperwork was submitted 4/20 . On 6/11 my EAD has been approved .

In defense to your employer, they may not have been to file AoS for you 7 years ago when they first hired you, because of long queue for EB3 Skilled Workers.
Today, the queue is only half a year long for most aliens, but it is 4 years for Chinese nationals, 11 years for Indian nationals, and 10 years for Filipino nationals.

If you are not from one of those countries, I am surprised you didn't threaten to quit on your employer. Given the job market, RN's have significant bargaining power.

I'm confident you'll have your Green Card before the end of the year.

I thank you so much . No I am from the African continent. I was told the same thing about leaving . I was told that many more employers would have done it for me a long time ago, considering that I am in critical care. My employer told me that I will have to work for them if I get the green card. I am getting conflicting answers as to if that is true or not. I feel I have given them enough time and really want to get out of here to experience other environments . They did not make me sign any contract to work for them before filing , so I want to believe i should not be stuck with them ?
