  • Never received i-797C

My fiance entered the US on a K-1 visa, we got married, and now we are trying to file the I-485 for AOS. One of the requirements on the checklist is "Submit Copy of NOA2 "Approval" for I-129F" which, from what I've found on the Internet, is an i-797C (http://www.uscis.gov/us-visa-and-imm...-notice-action). We never received anything like this. The only document even remotely similar is a one-page letter on a regular piece of paper saying my fiance's I-129F petition has been approved. It looks like any ordinary letter, except it has a bar code in the top right corner. Is this my NOA2 approval for I-129F?

what you need to submit along side your application is the approval notification you got for the k-1 visa, that is your NOA2 approval.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, there was no approval notification that came with the K-1 visa. The package mailed to my fiance included only her passport (with the K-1 visa inside), an envelope with "DO NOT OPEN" blazened across the front, and a one-page letter (no bar code on this one) titled "Entering the United States". This letter states that she received her K-1 visa, to not open the envelope and hand it to an immigration officer when she enters the US, and to file the I-485 AOS form (and I-765) after we get married in the US.

Is the letter I mentioned in my first post the one I should send with the I-485?
