  • Should we have filed the i-485

Hi Everyone, I am looking to join my wife in america and am worried that we might have made a mistake and missed filing the i-485 therefor making the process longer

I guess I need to tell our situation first.
I am a British Citizen, and my wife is an American Citizen,
We got married in september 2014 at Tulsa County Court, Oklahoma.
and filed our I-130 visa application in december 2014 for the CR-1 Visa path
We haven't recieved the NoA that the visa has been passed onto the NVC yet.

Now, my question is if I was to go back to america now and we filed the I-485 at the USCIS in Oklahoma City would that give me a green card straight away or will there still be a very long timeline?

    Thanks for any help.

If you are allowed back into the U.S., you can then proceed with submitting the I-485 applcation, with supporting documents, to the Chicago "dropbox" address.
