  • Should i cancel interview

I just recently filed forms for my work permit and adjustment of status in june. In july i recieved an appointment to complete my biometric. Within a week or two of completing fingerprints. I recieved an interview for my adjustment of status but i havent gotten my work permit....

My lawyer is suggested that we cancel the interview... Has this happen to anyone else?

I have heard of someone, who received their Permanent Resident Card, before their Work Authorization Card. Not sure if she did interview before her WA.

However, I'm surprised that the lawyer would tell you to cancel your interview. What's his plan of action, after you cancel? In my opinion, calling them would be a better action but honestly, I wouldn't have my interview rescheduled, I would definitely bring it up at my interview though.

There is no reason to cancel your interview. The Work Permit doesn't matter, because a successful interview will make any pending Work Authorization moot.

If the interviewer decides that the updated Biometrics is an issue, he will just instruct you to get them completed pending final approval of your Green Card.

This is not an especially unusual situation.

I really hope you did not pay that lawyer because thats the worse advice he could give you. Please do not cancel the interview. You won't be the first and sure won't be the last person that received their interview before getting work permit. This also happened to my sister-in-law bff and she never received her work permit because she got her green card after the interview.

I was in an immigration case with my dad 5 years ago which was denied due to lack of evidence... We couldnt figure out what other documents to submit... Do you think this is the reason for tbe early interview?

It's not possible to make a judgement about a case, when we don't have the facts of that case.
Regardless, just take all your filled copy documents and original documents to your interview. If your marriage is genuine, then there's no need to fair any questions they may throw out to you both. You will be fine. Good luck!!
