  • EAD & SSN / Help please!!!!!!

    Hi all,

First of all thank you reading and taking the time to answer! This forum is nothing less than a life saver!

    So here are my concerns:

    - We filed on 07/22/15. I had my biometrics done early this week on 08/17/15. All went well. The thing is that I really need to work to help my husband supporting us two and all our expenses. Because of his incomes, at the time of filing we used a co-sponsor. Lately I have been looking for jobs and got some answers and some interviews are being scheduled already (I know it is a little bit anticipated).
My question is: can I speed up the process of getting my EAD approved without affecting my case AND without a particular job offer yet?

    - 3 years ago a SSN has been issued for me while I was on J-1 visa. My SS Card has the mention "VALID FOR WORK WITH DHS AUTHORIZATION ONLY" and has my maiden name on it. Should I wait for my EAD to be approved to be able to make changes on my SS card? Or it there already something that I could do and if yes what?

Thank you for your HELP and Good luck to ALL!

Do you have a work Authorization, along with the current S S Card and if so, is it valid, meaning not expired.
If that's the case, you could accept work opportunities, until your other is processed.
Other than that, you cannot accept work.

You cannot update, the current S S Card, until you your current, Immigration Status is completed and you receive your Permanent Resident Card.
You would then take them to your local Social Security Administration Office, and have the conditions on your S S Card removed.
