My husband (American) and I (Canadian) recently filed for an adjustment of my status. We got a letter in the mail requesting all supporting tax documents submitted to the IRS for the most recent tax year.
Problem being my husband and I were students last year, he made no income so he was exempt from filing taxes. He has been working since January and already has made 125% of the poverty guideline.
We have no idea what to do since the documents they requested don't exist. We included a letter explaining that he was a student an didn't have to file a tax return when we initially filed for adjustment of status.
We've called USCIS twice and got no help.
