    Hi everyone,
I am a U.S. Citizen who is petitioning for my husband. I don't work presently so I cannot be a financial sponsor. His uncle who is also a citizen has filled out a form i864 agreeing to be a joint sponsor; but do I also have to fill one(i864) out as well because I'm confused as it doesn't say on the website, and I keep getting different information. Some people say I have to and others say I don't have to. Please help.

Hey, as far as I know, you have to file I-864 form NO MATTERS you work or no. In your case, you file one and his uncle file one (but as a joint sponsor), both are I-864's. Hope that helps.

Thank you so much for your help and information jaypham0234. So in these spaces asked what my pay is do I just fill 0.00 and check unemployed? Do I need to attach tax return documents from the last year as well?

Yes, if you didn't file them 0.00. However, you would need to give an explanation, for not filing. Good luck!

Thank you MaryH for your contribution. And I'm guessing I have to attach a note stating why? The simple reason will be that I didn't work for that year; is that a valid reason though, because that's why I really didn't file. No employment and no w2 to file. Thanks!

Beside, saying you didn't file taxes became you didn't work between x and x time; you could possible say what prevent you from working. Ex. Your health, no job in line of work or whatever...
