Something terrible happened in my family and my husband passed away. He was my immigration sponsor throught our marriage. I got my 2 years Green Card in June and I was just wondering what was the next step.
I am planning to go back to my home country for a little bit (less than 6 months) but should I notify USCIS before?

Yes, it would be in your best interest to notify them, in writing, making a copy of same.

There are steps to follow, given by USCIS, in the case of the death of a spouse who is under immigration processings. I have no doubt you will be properly informed. Good luck in your endeavors.
