AOS on a B2 visa

Good day to you all,
I am canvassing opinion from this forum on how you believe the powers that be (immigration and border control) would react if a decision was taken whilst visiting my spouse on applying for change of status using the I-485. Considering entry has been gained on essentially a tourist visa. Would it be frowned upon if she then decided to sponsor me whilst I am in the country?
How else do these applications work? As most circumstances mean you are changing your intentions from the original visa reasons (in this case anyway). I realise it's different possibly for those who are in the US based upon employment visas.
Thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Lets just say it happens all the time. If you come here to visit and then while here decide to file for the change then go ahead. You wouldn't want to leave or anything while the change is in process but you can apply for the change.
