Filing 485 and traveling immediately after

My I140 got approved under EB1A. I am getting docs ready to file for 485. I have international travel plans starting on October 7-13, 2015.

Can I submit I485 and travel out of country with a valid H1B [upto sept 2016]? Do I need to wait till I get the receipt notice from USCIS? I do not plan to use EAD or AP.

Any experiences or answers will help.
