  • Need advice adjusting status from F-1 to permanent residenct

A friend actually told me to come here for questions regarding adjusting my status. I came in last year on an F-1 visa, I was supposed to get a scholarship from my home country but missed out by a whisker. I had to quit after my first semester for financial reason. I got married a couple of months ago and my wife and her mother have been very supportive. We are submitting our application soon and I need answers to some pertinent questions:

    1) My wife and I rent our apartment from her mom, my name reflects on the lease and some of the utility bills. If I am going to answer unemployed for the question regarding my occcupation while filling out my form, won't they wonder how I am able to pay the rent and bills if I am unemployed? My wife pays the bills for now pending when I get my work authorization and start working.

    2) Is it advisable to do the medical in another state? I am out of the state at the moment and a family friend is an approved civil surgeon and ready to do it for me. Should I go for it or find the money and do it where I live?

    3) Is submitting my i-20 with my package a good idea?

Thank you as I look forward to hearing from you all.

    1) You're getting into deep with it. If its asking your occupation just write "unemployed".

    2) As for the medical papers it doesn't really matter where you get it done as long as its a certify doctor that knows what their doing. Also make sure the sealed envelope they hand you, you never open it.

    3) Theres a list a of things that you need to summit with all the forms & thats not one of them.

If you need more answers or help filling anything out just message me & good luck!!

Can you please get back to me with a list of what I need to submit with the form so that I can cross-check with what I have already?
      Thanks.
