Hi,
I have a dilemma that I hope some of you can help me with! I filed I-485 in April of this year for my permanent resident card, as my conditional resident card would expire in June. Received my receipt notice and was able to travel overseas in July and re-enter the US with my receipt notice while my case was pending.
At the end of August, husband and I moved to a different state, and shortly afterwards, I checked my case status online, only to see that my card had been mailed to me a few days earlier - to my old address I had just moved from, as I hadn't yet updated my address with USCIS. Tracking info said that the card was undeliverable and had been returned to USCIS, so I updated my address, after which my card was mailed out to me again (on Sep 10). This time, however, no tracking info was given.
On Sep 15, I had to travel overseas again for family matters, and the green card still hadn't arrived. My husband is home in the US and the green card hasn't arrived this whole time. So on Oct 10, I submitted a request for USCIS to resend my card on account of it never having arrived. I received a reply 2 days ago (Oct 14) saying that the card had been mailed to the most recent address on file but had not been returned to USCIS, so they suggested I file an I-90 for a replacement card (basically they're telling me it must be lost in the mail!).
Here is the issue:
- How can I know if the card was actually mailed out to me if there's no tracking number? How can I get a hold of the tracking number?
- I'm still with family in the UK and want to return to the US, but I don't know whether my receipt notice (which acts as a temporary extension of expired green card while new case is pending) will be valid for re-entry anymore, given that my new card has been issued. Do any of you know if the system gets updated to show that I technically should have the new card, to where the receipt notice is invalidated? If this is the case, how do I get back home to the US?
Thank you in advance for your help!!
