Hello everybody! I'd like to start by saying that this is an awesome community with lots of great info and stories.
I have a question/situation that might be a little complicated. So it goes like this: I am on an F-1 visa and got married in the summer; I sent AOS package to Chicago Lockbox in mid-July; however, I did not know at the time that I have to send the I-765 form for EAD (I thought it was part of the application); anyway, I realized that now in October (meanwhile I did biometrics, and my case is ready to be scheduled for interview).
I decided to send in form I-765 since the processing times for I-485 for Detroit are about 8 months right now and I would like to work maybe before that. Now this is where it gets tricky: I-765 form requires to provide previous applications for employment and proof; I had applied earlier this year (before AOS) for OPT (optional practical training) and was approved; however, I never got the physical card, since I moved and there was a mixup at the post office; I did all in my power to try to get the card but I couldn't - I never received it (the only thing I could have done is declare it lost and pay close to $400 again, which I didn't).
Therefore, I included a letter explaining this in my new I-765 application. Do you guys think that this will be a problem? Any ideas/advice?
Thank you so much,
Alex
