  • So... am I approved or not?

    Hi everyone,

Firstly, thanks for maintaining this valuable resource! This has helped me (and countless thousands) immensely.

    Now to my question...

I submitted a I-130/I-485 package in June and everything has proceeded normally. A few days ago I reviewed my case on USCIS Case Status and had a notice that said that my Form-485 had been approved and saying that a notice would be sent to me to explain what to do next. Great! no interview required! Now, however, USCIS Case Status has changed to "Case is Ready to Be Scheduled for an Interview." So will I need an interview or not? Should I expect my Green Card or a long wait for an interview?

I know some people's timelines seem to be contradictory and of of order, but couldn't find anything matching my particular experience.

    What do you thing?

    Thanks in advance!

What's the basis of your application? How did you come to the country? Is it spousal? If you had a fiancee visa you might not need an interview. If you came here with a different kind of visa and got married, you would need an interview. If you are not a spouse but kid or parents of an US citizen you might not have interview as well.

      Thanks for your response!

I am the spouse of a USC (married 6 years). We have two children together; one of which is a USC. I entered on VWP and submitted an I-130/ I-485 package in June.

I don't mind having an interview, just curious really as to how my case could be "approved" and "ready to be scheduled for an interview" at the same time!

      Thanks.

        Thanks.
You should have an interview then. Maybe they picked wrong state for the case status. It should have said first case received or accepted then biometrics fee received etc. eventually it get ready for an interview. Next you should have a date for it.
