renew passport when it's 14 months to expiry

Hi, am applying for greencard on eb1 and my wife passport is going to expire in 14 months. My company immigration team is suggesting that I need to have atleast 12 months expiry when the application gets approved by uscis. Since india passport service doesn't allow renewal of passport until it's 12 month to expiry, I want to know what other options are available to renew the passport now with new 10 yrs expiry. My jurisdiction is NY. If I do a change of address in PP will it help? Thanks in advance for your response.
