I 485 re-opened.
I had filed for my mother's I 130 in June 2014 and I 485 Sep 2014.
All other documents are approved except for I 485. This is re opened but we did not get any correspondence in mail with the reason for re opening. On Sep 11,2015 they asked us to come in for an in person interview for additional information. They wanted my mother's birth certifcicate. During the interview the lady was very nice and at the end of the interview stated that she will approve the GC but there is an issue with the finger printing. We will get an appointment in mail for biometrics. Within one day we got a letter from USCIS stating that the I 130 is approved. And immediately got a letter for re opening of I 485. This was on Sep 16th.
I took an Infopass appointment on Oct 22 and went to the local Chicago USCIS office. The appointment was not fruitful as I did not get much information from the person at the counter. I wrote on a piece of paper that he provided to me which he would eventually passed it to the Immigration Officer handling my mother's case. No call still.I do plan to take another Infopass appointment next week and check it out.
I also filled out a form online at
"https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/mycasestatus.d..."
Prior to the interview I also went for help to the local Congressman in Lincolnshire. They get such requests from people and have staff that handle such requests. His staff reached out to their contact at USCIS and were told that it's just taking time and they are backlogged, otherwise, there are no issues with the case. This was before the interview.
If anyone knows what else to do , please let me know.
