I arrived in the US a couple of months ago on a B2 visa which allows me multiple entries and since then I have been in and out of the country 3 times on short stays. The very first time I crossed back in the border patrol just looked at my visa and waved us through (it is logged that I came in and out). The second time I crossed I was made to go inside for questioning and the reason given was that I was required to have an I94 paper record as I had crossed by land. No issue as I'm not familiar with what I needed so paid the nominal amount. I was then told by the officer that as long as I had that with me if I cross again I wouldn't need to go inside to speak to anyone.
The date on this record by the way is May 2016, beyond what I originally had stamped in my passport when I first arrived.
The third time I was again asked to go inside and was asked a couple of questions about my stay. They took my I94 record and the officer proceeded to tear off the bottom portion of it and then gave it me back along with my passport.
My latest online record doesn't shows that I re entered the country but gives a date of departure. The officer mainly asked if I had a ticket to go home and what date that was going to be and with which airline. I did say I am here until March of next year.
My question is, if I decide to proceed with an AOS will the fact they tire off part of the I94 be a factor at all? I know that part of the application states that I need to send a copy or original I94?
What is the impact of the online data not showing my arrival back into the country which I clearly did.
Any help would be appreciated and to stop me worrying that I have done something wrong along the way (unintentional as I have followed the orders of every border patrol officer I have encountered).
Many thanks
