  • AOS marriage based interview failed badly.

My USC husband and I had the interview this past Thursday, and it went badly. We had only about 60% match answers. My husband lied to the officer about where he bought the ring (at a small kiosk instead of a big store), and whether or not he picked me up from the airport when I flew home from Chicago a week before Thanksgiving (he fell asleep and I took a cab home, but he lied and said he picked me up). His reason was he didn't want to look like a bad, cheap husband in front of them. We came in the interview already with red flags (this is both our 2nd marriage, he also petitioned for his ex wife) and as much as we prepared ourselves for detailed questions, we failed. The officer gave him the choice to withdraw, but he chose to move forward. Now we're anxiously waiting for the next step. I wish they would have done a bed check, then they would know we are a real married couple. Now I want to hire a a good legitimate lawyer for when and if we get called in for the stoke interview. I feel like my first lawyer didn't care. He wasn't the one preparing our case either, his secretary did. I'm in the Philly area, and I have heard of Ricky Palladino. I wonder if he lives up to his reputation. This process of obtaining legal status has been very draining to me. I met , fell in love and got married to my first USC husband just so it ended up with me filing for a PFA against him, but he then convinced me to drop it, which I did, hoping that we could reconcile. He abandoned me at the green card interview, and my first application got denied. I was lucky enough to meet my current husband and became friends with him before he confessed his love to me, and knowing my situation, he wanted to marry me so he wouldn't lose me. Our marriage is real, but how come it is so hard to prove that! I guess I'm seeking advice and venting at the same time.

AOS marriage based interview failed badly

Hi, the best you and your husband can do is tell the truth. Immigration officers do not care what type of person you are or if yo are cheap of irresponsible. They want the truth. My advise is do not get a lawyer. If your marriage is legitimate you do not need anyone to accompany you guys. That will be a waste of money. I was trying to hire a lawyer to come to my interview (My interview has not come yet) and she was going to charge me FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS!! My wife and I have been married for two years and we decided that both she and me are going to tell the truth about everything.

I'm telling you, do not worry too much, worry only when you both lie. Sorry to hear about your last husband. Men can be real jerks. Hope everything works for you in the future.
