My wife (US Citizen/Sponsor) and I (intending immigrant) are married for over 2 years now (filed the last two tax returns jointly) and I have been living and legally working (L1 visa) in the US for nearly 4 years. We are currently filing I-130 and I-485.
We have a one year old son and my wife is currently a stay at home mother with no income. I make enough money to meet the 125% income requirements. I already have a letter from my employer stating that my income will come from the "same source" after obtaining the Green card.
Here my two questions:
1. For I-864 Part 6; 19a-c: Can my wife put in the "total income" (1040 line 22) from our joint tax return and do we still need a joint/co sponsor or will my income be enough
2. If we need a joint sponsor:
My mother in law is willing to be a joint sponsor. She makes enough money to meet the 125% income requirements but is filing her taxes jointly with her husband. I have all required information from my mother in law (paystubs, W2's, tax transcripts, passport copy, etc) but I'm having a harder time getting the information from my father in law (W2's, 1099 etc). My father in law is happy to sponsor me as well but he might not have all the paperwork needed.
Does my father in law need to file i864a even if his income is not needed or is the i864 from my mother in law enough?
Thanks for your help.
