  • I 131 Advance Parole Form

    Dear community
I have noted that when applying for AOS it has been suggested to apply for Advance Parole which I agree is a good idea for those "just in case" scenarios.

As you never know how long these things can take I think I may want to return to the UK to see my family with my wife and child and take care of some things in regards my rental property.

It asks for a date of when I am likely to travel and for how long. That I really would not know the answer to as it would only be something I would consider if the AOS process takes too long.

If I do not have a particular date in mind can I still submit the form? Can I leave the date of intended travel blank?
What could I put down as the reason for wanting to travel?
It's been a while since my parents have seen my family but I'm not sure if that is considered a good enough reason.

I possibly may want to go to Canada to see an elderly aunt too but I have nothing set in stone and that partly depends on my father as he may travel there too from the UK.

    Regards

    Advance Parole

    Hello
Can anyone who has been granted an advance parole please share their experiences?
Could I submit the form without a definite date I wish to travel or would it be considered an incomplete form?
Should I provide details of why I might travel such as see family?
I would welcome any suggestions or experiences you have had.
    Regards

      Hi gpiper
I'm not stalking you... Honest! Haha
I have a similar issue in that I am looking to complete AOS documentation. For me it's being able to visit Mexico to see my wife's ailing father. I have been numerous times over the years but that would have to stop if I don't obtain the Advance Parole. This is a real quandary as he is in his twilight years and not very well. I'd like to be able to support my wife but as I have no dates I would actually go see him I'm not sure if I can leave the form blank.

Can anyone see a way of me being able to complete the form without a date. I would need multiple trips as my wife usually goes at least twice a month.
Has anyone achieved Advance Parole without firm dates? If so, what supporting evidence did you provide?
Would some evidence of my father in laws medical history suffice?
Do I need to write this all down on a separate piece if paper and attach to the form?
Instead of a specific date could I suggest a month I would travel in?
      Please help
      Thanks

        Advance Parole

        Hello again
Firstly to Whodadaddy, do not worry, I do not think you are stalking! It appears we are reviewing the forms at a similar time period and certainly for me it's the first time I have actually looked at into any detail.

Secondly some good questions you raise as I could not find in the instructions the type of evidence that is supposed to accompany the advance parole form. I like you would love to hear from anyone who was granted an AP and did not have a specific date of travel, what they did to achieve it.

Fingers crossed someone reads this message and provides a little guidance.
        Many thanks

          Just to be clear

As I found the USCIS site slightly confusing. If I file the AOS I130 I485 forms etc concurrently I do not have to make the additional $360 payment for this form?
It does say part way through one of the webpages that if there is a pending I485 submitted then no payment is required but further down there is a table which shows the monies due which in my mind contradicts the information stated earlier.

Personally I think it means I do not have to pay this filing fee as I will submit all forms at the same time but want to be 100% sure please.

ps Still hoping someone shares their AP experiences...
          Thank you

There is no fee for the I-131, for an Advance Parole, when submitted with the I-485.
