  • Watiing in Boston

Hi everyone! My husband and I are waiting for our interview notice. Here is our timeline:

    PD: 9/29/15
    Biometrics done:10/30/15
    EAD Approved: 12/9/15
    EAD Received: 12/17/15

Nothing since then. Website status says "ready to schedule interview since 12/7/15". I am a US Citizen.

Here's my question. Our lawyer filed the papers for us, so I don't know where they were sent. The address on all our papers from USCIS is the NBC in Missouri, but we live near Boston. Does that mean our case is being processed through Missouri or through Boston?

I'd love to hear from other people with a situation similar to ours.

    Thanks!

Thanks! What is your timeline? I have heard the Boston office is slower than others.

              Hi,

My husband and I had his adjustment of status interview in Boston on 3/8/16, with no decision. The immigration officer told us he needed to do further background checks so we are worried that it may be a long time before he gets a green card. We filed the paperwork on 8/10/15 and received our interview date on 1/31/16.

Congrats on your interview date! I have good news as well - my husband and I had our interview on 3/8/16 at the Boston office and I was nervous that it didn't go well. We didn't hear anything for a few days, but his case was approved on 3/11/16, so he's getting a green card now. Good luck!! Let me know if you need any tips about the interview at all.

                      Hello maurab291
Maybe you could share your experiences to a wider audience so others have an idea of what to expect on that day.
                      Thanks

Hi All - update here! We had our interview yesterday and were approved on the spot! Yesterday afternoon on the website the status changed to "new card is being produced" and then this morning it says "case was approved"! I am assuming the next update will say the card has been mailed. Hope to have it next week.

So here is our final timeline, all in all it will be about 7 months from filing date to receipt of green card:

                        PD: 9/29/15
                        Biometrics done:10/30/15
                        EAD Approved: 12/9/15
                        EAD Received: 12/17/15
                        Interview Scheduled: 3/18/16
                        Interview Completed: 4/14/16
4/14/16: Status Changed to New Card is Being Produced
4/15/16: Status Changed to I-485 Case Was Approved

The interview was not what I expected! They did not separate me and my husband. They just asked where we met, how our relationship progressed, if we had met each others parents, and if the marriage was going well. Then confirmed our SS numbers, contact info, DOB, and the officer asked my husband if he was a terrorist, had plans to overthrow the government, etc. Then he asked for some supporting documentation so we gave him a copy of our lease, our most recent bank statement, and a copy of our utility bill. We had a massive binder prepared and a 100 pg photo album but he didn't even ask to see anything more. After that he stamped approved on our paperwork and we left. All in all we were in and out in about 30 minutes.

To others who are waiting, I know it is very frustrating and can be a long process that feels like it will never end. Have patience because it is so worth it in the end!
