  • Immigrant Officer Home Visit

    A little about the background:
I'm a citizen and currently in last year of graduate school
My husband is a F1 visa and just finished his pre-requisites. Both of us are 26 never married before. We are from the same hometown.
We applied a month after we got married on 3/5/15
Everything is fast and smoothly until we finished the interview on end of May, 2015
    We have been waiting since.
My interviewer said we shouldn't have any problems should be receive GC before EAD expires.
During the time we made 2 info pass/ 2 online inquiries. Finally we made inquiry on Ombudsman Service in January, 2016.
A few days ago, I received notice that an inquiry was sent to UCSIS from Ombudsman. Then a few days later, two immigrant officers showed up in my parent's house (where we set our current physical and mailing address).
Because both of us moved a lot, we didn't report the current address ( we are going to move again in may)
And the officers talked to my dad who speak limited English but understand/answered most of the questions.
They looked at my room: because I moved to the new apartment, I grabbed my display pictures for marriage and things like that to the new apartment. pretty much my bedroom doesn't have anything displaying my husband's item. And the bed is a single bed too. We usually cuddle or grab another mattress when we come back for holidays.

Officer asked for new address and our phone number and left.

So what should I be expecting next?
I know our interview raise a red flag because we don't have too much evidence in common financial report except a joint account. But both of us are students. I will be graduating this May and be financially independent. So we can provide more evidence probably in the future.

However, it doesn't looked good because immigrant officers showed up at the wrong address (my fault).

Anything ideas what will be happening next?

For anyone to consider making a home visit I would suggest they were not convinced with your application or interview responses. I'm not sure how common it is for immigration to make home visits but I doubt it's frequent.
You yourself have raised red flags in the fact you have not updated your address (it will seem like you are trying to hide something) plus the fact you are requested to keep USCIS of any updated address.

That alone isn't your issue.. I don't find what you said all that convincing an argument of having no evidence of your relationship with your husband. Plus you only having a single bed is somewhat unusual in the conventional sense.
As officers they would be looking for what is "likely" to be around your abode. An absence of this will only make them question more!
You need to be 100% sure of what your parents have said to the officers as they will verify this when they eventually catch up with you. At the time of your application you should be certain test you can prove you have a bona fide relationship and not rely that you will have evidence "at a future point in time". It's up to you to prove / convince them not for them to try and catch you out.

Someone obviously wanted to take a closer look at you both which is unfortunate as no doubt you may be genuine but are caught up in their suspicions. Frustrating I know but answer honestly and you will be fine. The truth should come out..... just means you having to wait additional time.

I would suggest you make every effort to show the strength of your relationship to leave them in no doubt to let you both carry on with your lives together in the U.S. Fingers crossed it all works out well for you both.
