    Warm regards,

I have a few questions, I'm really trying to avoid RFEs!
    a) I have black and white copies of the passport does this matter?
    b) How strict are they on the passport photo rules?
    c) Is it enough to have the tax information from 2014, my sponsor hasn't filed for 2015 yet?
    d) Anything else I should add/ take out

  • #2
There are many examples of cover letters and checklists to choose from, some more detailed than others.
You are trying to make your package as user friendly to USCIS officials as possible so having a checklist that contains information on what they will be reviewing is useful.

The address is obviously for USPS delivery so be sure it us sent via that method.
Some have said its preferential to have colour copies of the passport but the important thing is making sure it's clear and legible. So black and white will suffice.
Passport size photos is the ususl 2"x2” you should ensure you meet the full criteria on the size and how they are to be taken. It is common that the actual photos used for official purposes now cone from the biometric appointments by all accounts.
Dont forget to have your full name on the back of them.

As for the I-864 tax return, it is the latest filed tax return so if only the 2014 is available then so be it. Although only optional, its preferred if the preceding 2 years are also included (3 tax returns in total). I'm not entirely sure if the USCIS will wonder why your sponsor hasn't filed 2015 yet but there is 3 weeks left to file so not that unusual.

Have any documented evidence available for the I-131 form to back up your request.

    Cheers

I would like to ask a question, too. My husband became a permanent resident last year. In October 2015 he filled a petition for me, the I-130 form, if I am not mistaken. In December 2015 I got a B2 tourist visa. In the same month, the petition filled for me was approved and at this moment mu case is with the NVC. We just have to send them all the documents and we are ready for the visa interview. But, currently I am in the US with the tourist visa I told you about and we were wondering if it would be easier for us to apply for adjustment of status, since I am here already. We were considering this thinking that this will save us a trip back to Romania and that things might be easier. Thank you!

Thanks for sharing. The forum has been very useful. Please check my cover letter

I am prepared to file and would be more confident if I share and have feedback on my cover letters.
I contemplated for a while if each Form needs to stand alone and have all the supporting documents or one copy in the whole package is sufficient.
              Thanks
