Please help me with the current RFE issued for I 485 filed in November. I had applied for I 485 for myself and my husband upon approval of I-140 under EB1A category. The officer issued RFE to both of us. My RFE is simple. Officer asked for employment verification. However for my husbands looks complicated. I came to US on J1 in 2010 and got married in 2011. My husband had a previous marriage which lasted for 3 months and ended in a mutual divorce (Khula) according to muslim laws. The Qazi issued a certificate in urdu with signatures from both the parties and witnesses. My husband submitted the same in Indian passport office for removal of spouse name from the passport and got it approved. We mentioned in the application form while filing for I 485 about previous marriage and submitted the same Qazi issued certificate with english translation. However the officer mentions in the RFE that for the divorce to be considered valid for immigration purpose it has to be registered by the civil authorities. We have no idea what to do as the marriage ended in 2010 and both the parties have moved along with their new lives. We have no idea where the person is currently. Please advice what should be done now.
