  • Biometric Appointment

    Hello all
Can anyone tell me what to expect from the biometric appointment please, preferably those that have actually been to one.
I assume it's just fingerprint scan and a photo or does it include an iris scan too?

Do they ask many questions? Anything additional to the forms completed?
Do you take appointment letter and ID only?
Are you allowed to take mobile phones in at all?

I have heard that some people have gone in on an earlier date to their appointment... What is the advantage to this? Does it move your case on quicker?

    Any insights would be appreciated.
    Many thanks

Is pretty simple, bring your letter and id with you, no cell phones are allowed, and you have ro fill out a form another form with your name and aliases you might have used

Well I can answer my own questions now as I went to my biometric appointment at an earlier time than scheduled.
They did take me in but be warned as they asked the person in front of me to wait until the end of the entire cohort of people who had the right appointment day to be seen first (I got lucky and they didn't notice the date on my appointment letter).

You do only need the appointment letter and photographic ID.
As for mobile phones it's a definite no no. Countless people were told to go put these in their cars as they were not even allowed in the waiting areas. Neither are large bags such as backpacks.

There is a form to complete which basically asks for a few physical attributes.. Height, weight, colour of eyes and hair and citizenship details. All quite basic information.

For me, there was an electronic signature required as well as fingerprints (lots of them!) plus a photograph was taken too.

If you are not one of the first in line and depending on how many are working at the support centre and the size of the queue you could easily need to factor in an hour. There was limited staff there but all knew what they were doing and were pretty swift!
