  • Biometrics Appointment - Cell Phone

    Hi,

I have a biometrics appointment scheduled. The notice says not to bring a cell phone, but living in NYC it's hard to navigate and find the field office (Bronx location) without it. Is it possible to bring your cell phone and have it turned off while inside or do you definitely need to not bring it along?

i heard many stories that they make you take it to your car. I asked a friend she said all she did was turns her off and kept it on her purse..me I am a man, so I am just going to leave it at home, better to follow their rules.

Of course follow the rules and respect the guidelines.

But I heard that cell phone bringers will be off and kept in locker or on their bags better you avoid bringing the cell phone whil you go to the USCIS offices

          Regards

You run the risk if you take it with you, if you come across an unfriendly officer they will turn you away. Each centre will clearly display signs stating no mobiles allowed in the building. This is not the same as turn your mobile off when you enter.

If they had searched those people leaving it in their bags then they too would have been asked to leave and return without it. The fact they turned it off so it didn't ring is a risk they took.

You not taking your spouse with you? Or a friend maybe? They could then keep it for you outside while you complete the appointment. You shouldn't be there longer than 30-45 minutes really.

went for Biometrics today at Elizabeth NJ. Everyone was super nice there from the guard to the desk to the Biometric specialist. They just tell you to shut your phones off, and if they see you using it you may get kicked out . Biometrics took less than20 minutes.

Is there a locker facility to store our belongings, at Elizabeth ASC?

I would be going there with my backpack. So please advise.
