  • Greencard approved and then reopened

I need an advice! If anyone had a similar situation please advise.
A few days after our Greencard interview we received a few letters. One of them said that case is approved (10yrs Greencard) and the second one says "after review..we have reopened or reconsidered.." And the third letter is directly from the io who interviews us, asking to come again at a specific date and time next month. He asked that we bring only ID. Reason for appointment: "complete processing of application".
This is very frustrating! The interview was very short and it seemed good. Note that it was our first interview (we are married for 4 years so I was granted with the unconditional Greencard).

What could be the reason they want to see BOTH of us there? It doesn't say interview but could it be another interview? Are they required to tell you if it's another interview so you could prepare or even hire a lawyer? Or can they trick you into coming there without saying it's an interview? Please advices if you have any clue! Thanks!

This is a very rare situation. I've read somewhere something similar, that couple went to immigration interview, were approved on the spot, but after short period of time were invited back. The reason for that is that IO forgot to ask i485 Yes/No questions, which are must be answered under oath. If it's not the case, I would consult the lawyer.
    Good luck

They asked me those questions on the interview though so I can't point on the problem because we felt like the interview went great. The officer barely asked any questions. Interview was about 10 min long.
The question is if it's another interview? Like stokes interview? Or are they required by law to let you know if it's a stokes interview? That's a very weird situation, especially that i485 and i130 were approved and we have the letter in our hands.

Sorry, but I can't help you with that. Usually when you are invited for stokes interview in the invitation you will find information about either fraud department or smth about stokes. Please keep posted what happened on you 2nd interview

It could be one of the following reasons :

            1. Someone reported you for fraud.

            2. They found a new piece of info on your case and want to interview for that.

            3. The interview was considered insufficient after being reviewed by higher ups.

            4. You hid something while filing.

              TarCas thanks for your reply!
They didn't send me an interview letter though and it says nothing about fraud department. All it says is "complete processing of application" and I assume if it's another interview they have to inform you, no?
Anyways we called level 2 officer and they said that they need my (applicant) fingerprints again and that's why case was reopened but it's still hard for me to believe that this is the reason because they ask to come to where the interview is done and not where the fingerprints, also they ask that the petitioner show up as well.
My question is- if anyone has an experience with that? My last fingerprints were taken 1 year ago.

As for a second interview- I just want to know if it's possible that they don't tell us the truth and it really is another interview? We have nothing to hide and we are willing to go to another interview if needed, it's just nice to know beforehand! I heard about a lot of people bringing a lawyer to a second interview so I want to know what to expect.

I think the level 2 officer might be right; USCIS might require a second finger print sometimes. If it is a second interview they would have let you know. I believe you will be find since you have got nothing to hide, Just be sure to go with all neccessary documents.
