  • Interview approved but a bit confused

    Hi guys,

So I had my AOS interview last Monday 05/16. They asked my wife questions then me and they all matched. All went well, at the end she said she is going to approve my green card, and I can expect to receive it in ... - don't remember how long she said,
Anyway, 6 days later, no update in my case online - it still says interview is scheduled, no approval letter, nothing.
The woman said she doesn't usually do interviews because she is a supervisor. I didn't get a temporary green card stamp, she didn't take my ead or advance parole...
I called up and spoke to an officer over the phone yesterday, but she said it could still take 4 months to get my green card?! Even after being told it will be approved and mailed..

Does anyone have any idea what is going on? Is this normal?

    Thanks for the help

    James

Yes it can take up to months or year(s) but i have no idea why it takes that longer, i had my interview same as you March 30th and no decisions on my green card yet but i -130 was approved on spot and i went to local office to ask what is wrong with my case, officer told me that my background check has not been completed yet. the only thing i can do, just wait.
    wish you the best luck

      Hi James,

Just wait patiently it will be updated. Me and my husband got interviewed last May 3, I received a letter from USCIS after 2 weeks, even then my online status was not updated after a week. Now I'm just waiting for my GC card. The more you don't think about it or look at the time/day it will just arrive in your mailbox.

Let patience do its perfect works for us.

      Congrats

Hi, I am an October 2015 filer NYC field office. My husband got fingerprint appt November 12. We got the ead on January 6. Our interview was April 12 2016. It was about a 45 min wait and a30 min interview. The officer was nice, and asked basic questions. Flipped through our photo book. Asked us questions about the proper in it. Asked the i485 form questions. I thought it went pretty well. Until the end when he shook my hand and said. Do you have anything you want to confess now, I was confused and very nervous. But I replied with a simple No Sir, I'm sure. He said we would receive a letter with a decision in 60 days. The next day the i139 was approved. But the i485 stayed the same. I checked for a month and half with no update in sight. Finally 5/28 I got a status change text. When I checked it said my husbands GC. Had been delivered to my mailbox. I ran outside and it was there. Thank God.

Hope this helps and I wish everyone the best of luck.

Same boat.... we had our interview on May 3rd I run outside every single time the mail comes in, hoping and praying it's there....

I recieved my welcome letter on may 5th
My online status change on may 11th
Since then no change of status and no GC.
I already called and I was told to wait 60 days to call back.

So desperate, I know it would come...
I don't understand why other people get it within the first 2 weeks and some of us are left behind.
