Interview approved-green card not received.can kids travel?

Hi everyone..so im the us citizen and went through the whole green card application for husband and kids . Interview was 5 may and went well. A few days later we het letters that green card was approved and to expect it in mail within 3 weeks. I was planning a trip with my kids (6 and 3) outside the UD and went ahead and reserved the tickets. Till now didnt receive green cards. Called uscis and they said system doesnt even show that cards have been printed. Question is-can my kids travel without their green cards?i will have some friends who will be joining me 5 weeks later and may get my kids green cards once they arrive?would leaving the US be a problem?

did you apply for advance parole? if not you can't leave the country until you have gotten your green card
