Yes, I know... I have no intent on bothering them at all.... Just waiting...Not looking to work yet.... Rather enjoy the summer with the kiddies and hubby.... Since lots of people have been hitting my mailbox I have decided to create this thread so they can post their experiences here as there has been confusion with k1 visa and F1 visa process as not everyone specifies their visa category.

my latest visa was F1, it should be the same process no matter what visa you entered.

My husband had a F1 visa, this is our timeline in NYC.
            October 13 2015 -File received
            By Uscis
            November 12 -biometrics appt
            January 6--EAD was received
            March 14-received interview appt letter
April 12 --interview was completed, but was told to wait 60 days for a decision.
April 14th-received and update saying I130 was approved, but the I 485 was still under review and nothing changed/updated for 6 weeks.
May 28 2016- received a text from the USCIS website, saying my husband Catd had been delivered to my mailbox and when I ran outside it was there.
            Good luck to everyone and

                Need help...

                Hello everyone,

Not really sharing experience as much as asking for advice. I am currently on F-1 visa and will graduate this December (visa is good until June 2017). Fiance is active duty military and we are getting married in August. He just got moved to NY, and my university is down in SC. Will living apart for a semester be an issue with interview, medical examination, etc.? Does anyone know if the process is quicker for military marriages? How long does it typically take to get work authorization and travel authorization?

I came to the US on an F1 visa in 2013, and am currently on OPT which expires in early August. I'd applied for AOS in May after marriage to a USC. I'm looking forward to hearing about your experiences in addition to sharing mine.

5/13/2016: AOS package sent to USCIS in Chicago (I130; I485; I765)
5/16/2016: Priority date; routed to NBC

I'm anxious for work authorisation and I'm hoping it wouldn't take the full three months. It took exactly three months when I applied for it on OPT.

My husband and I were also apart. I was in NYC and he was in CT. As a military man in some cases the process is faster. However I had all my ez pass, train tickets, hotel receipts, and any type of prove of how often we saw each other. Also make sure you guys have a bank account, and show that even though you are far from one another, you share financial responsibilities. Lastly take lots of pictures. Remember to never lie, you can explain and prove your relationship or even have a second or third interview if they don't believe you. But if they catch you lying they will definitely deny. Socia media is always a plus, they look at that too.
