Do I really need to file form I-131?

So I am a citizen and I am wanting to petition for my mother. Today I went to the immigration office to ask a few question and the lady gave me Form I-131, do I need to file this form with form I-485 for my mothers green card? She is already in the States so I don't see why I would need to file this form. Any help/advise would be greatly appreciate it, thanks.

It is highly suggested as this will enable your mother to visit her home country while waiting on her AOS approval. The I-131 is the Travel document / Advance Parole and allows people to re-enter the US without any issues website.

If she doesnt plan on leaving the US during the processing of her GC then you do not need to file the I-131. Otherwise, you can file it just in case and it is at no cost if you file it concurrently.

Better if you add it , that way she can apply for SSN while waiting for the others to be approved plus is free if file all at once.

Shes not planning on leaving the states during the process. She already has a social but it says valid only with working permit. Thanks for all the info I appreciate it.
