Advice needed: I485 RFE on my Wife's name change
Hi, Need some advice on acceptable documents by USCIS for name change.
My wife's maiden name was A.K.M. VVVV and she changed hername to YYYY YYY ZZZ after marriage (via affidavit in 2004) in India. Paper ads were published to announce the name change at that time and both the affidavit and paper ads were used as evidences to obtain her passport in her new name.
Her final marriage certificate, Passports and VISA have carried my new name all along.
As part of the I485 RFE, USCIS is asking for the following
Furthermore, please submit evidence from the appropriate civil authority granting your name from A.K.M. VVVV to YYYY YYY ZZZ and the supporting law(s) governing your name change. Acceptable evidence must show that the statistic or event was registered with civil authority.
Please note, we DID NOT register this name change in Indian Gazette and she is in US right now and have only about 40 days to respond to this RFE. Can someone advise on what are the acceptable secondary evidences for her name change? What documents can be obtained from India to support this while she is here.
