Applied for Adjustment of Status for my mother on Oct 19, 2015, family based.
Got Parole and EAD in Jan 2016.
On Dec 29, 2015 application was ready for interview
Got interview notification in May 2016
June 15, 2016 was the interview.
The officer said her fingerprints were not readable and asked for police clearance from our city in NJ and from India (the two places she lived for the last 5 years).
1. Question: there are two option for getting police clearance from India:
a) From Indian Consulate in NYC: this is based on passport
b) from Regional Passport office in India
c) from local police station in India
Which option will be acceptable to USCIS? We already got the police clearance from Indian Consulate in NYC
2. Officer also asked for Non Availability of Birth Certificate
She in an India citizen but was born in Pakistan before partition.
I spoke to an agency in Pakistan. The person said that since my mother was born in a small town in Pakistan, he cannot obtain a Non-availability from that town. However, he can get a non-availability from the capital city of the same province. The certificate will have the name of the small town as well.
Will this work?
