  • Adjustment from L1 visa to marriage-based greencard

    Hi All,

I got laid off the day after I got married (was on L1 visa). In some ways, we saw it coming, so we got married a little earlier than we normally would. I am now applying for concurrent application (I-130 and I-485) so I can get my EAD. Do I need to explain the situation specifically in the cover letter, and if so how should I position it? We have been living together and would have married anyway, but since it looks a bit like we did it early to save the situation, was wondering if any explanation is required. Would appreciate some advice.

i personally will not bring it up unless it is asked, just choose ur wording carefully. if u mention it, it will seem like u got married just to get immigration benefit.
