Sponsor does not earn anything, can he have a joint sponsor?

Hi,
my father in law is filing adjustment of status for his wife and son. my father in law does not have any income as he does not work, can he have a joint sponsor though he himself does not have any income. thanks.

his only potion is to get a joint sponsor whose income is enough to take care of the wife and son plus their household income
