Hi Guys,
I received an RFE on the 12th of July requesting a joint sponsor. Initially, this wasn't a problem and we approached my wife's father who was happy to vouch for us.
However I recently found out that he is filing a late tax return and therefore immigration would require a IRS transcript detailing the late return. This is an issue for us as he is filing on Saturday (6th of August) and we have until 7th of October to reply to the RFE.
This leaves us two months to submit an electronic tax return and get an IRS transcript. I understand an electronic tax return takes two to four weeks to process, while the IRS website says it takes 5-10 working days to get the transcripts. This leaves about six weeks at worst to get everything and send it off.
While it's doable, it leaves a pretty tight deadline.
What are our options? Find another sponsor?
Kind regards
