  • Should I Go Back Home Country Before Interview?

    Hi Everyone

I live in Las Vegas, Nevada.
I am waiting for the interview for my restricted green card, I've adjusted my status as spouse of an U.S. citizen.
We have been waiting for an interview since 5/11/2016.
Received the advance parole for travel document on 5/18/2016.

I have read some posts saying that it takes months sometimes years to get the interview and eventually the green card, and during this time that I am waiting, I would like to go back my home country to take care of some personal things.

I just want to have an idea if this is a good idea, or should I wait to go back my home country after I receive my green card.
If I decide to go back before the interview, would this effect the result of my interview?

Thank you, and replies appreciated in advance.

My lawyer advised me against leaving before the interview saying that it could complicate things unnecessarily, but I had to leave for a quick trip and returned with no issues. You will most likely have a few weeks between receiving the interview notice letter and the actual interview (in my case it was around 8 weeks), so you have some time to plan accordingly.

only if u have someone to watch the mail box and be able to reach u once uscis mail the interview notice. there is no specific timing uscis mail it, if u miss it ur application will get denied and it will be a headache and expensive to reopen it.
