  • Permanent Resident Card

I was wondering if it's normal to receive your Permanent Resident Card in the mail without ever having gone to an interview for it. This happened to me and I wanted to make sure all is well and we didn't miss anything.
I entered the country under a K-1 Visa, got married and filed for Adjustment of Status. I got scheduled for biometrics, and did that, but after that we didn't hear anything from them until today, when I received my card.
I was under the impression that it is the norm to be scheduled for an interview before you can get your Permanent Resident Card, and I can't really find anything on the subject anywhere.

Also, can I travel abroad without filing for a travel permit, now that I've got my permanent resident card or is that something I still need to file for separately?

    Help is appreciated.

      Congrats on you PR card.

Your PR card allows entry to the US, and you can travel internationally without any US travel permits. However, you will still need to comply with other nations' travel requirements.. visa, etc.

Okay, thanks for the help. I was just planning on visiting home for a few weeks, so visa, etc. won't be an issue.
