  • Entry to the USA with I-551 stamp

My I-485 was approved but there's a delay in receiving the actual green card. I made an infopass and they stamped my passport with a temporary I-551. I am going to travel overseas and I wonder if I'm going to have any problems entering the USA? Has anyone entered the USA with a stamp?
    Thanks!

    Entry in USA with stamp

In such it will be better if you take the advice of some lawyer on the subject.

You don't need an attorney to tell you what the I-551 stamp means. The I-551 stamp is proof of Permanent Resident status until the Green Card shows up. WIth the I-551 stamp you can work and can reenter the U.S. if you leave for travel.

        Thank you @RayB.
I wasn't sure about it because I heard some people had issues having the stamp recognized by some immigration officers at the time of entry to the USA. I am planning to travel and I hope I will not face any issues.

          Peary Pear,

There may be issues and raised eyebrows when returning to the U.S., but the I-551 stamp is meant to have your status recognized when travelling or working.

            Thanks again, Ray B.
Are there any documents you recommend to have with me at the time of entry? I was thinking to have my i485 and i130 approval letters, but not sure if that would help.

The main concern upon returning is why you don't have the Green Card. If you have proof that your I-485 interview was successful, or approval was obtained without an interview, carry that proof with you.
