Should I get an Interpreter for my Interview or Can I Translate for my Espouse?

I am scheduled for my green card interview at the end of this month at the Newark field office. My wife and I are native Spanish speakers. My wife is already an American citizen and also my petitioner; she speaks English very very little; whereas I am fluent. Will I be allowed to translate for my wife or should I bring an interpreter?

Also, I submitted an affidavit of support together with my I-485 application, 8 months ago, do I need to update the documents related to the affidavit: ie. paystubs, tax reports, etc?

I haven't been to the interview yet but my guess would be that you would be allowed to translate. Although there are a good chunk of bilingual officers so you might get one of those. As for the updated documents, your interview notice should have a complete list of what you need to take to the interview. Good luck! We have our interview next month

Can i translate for my spouse?

Thanks for replying. I fear that the officer is not an Spanish speaking person and does not let me translate for my wife. Is there a way to know beforehand if the officer is bilingual?

someone posted here before that he thought he could translate for his wife, but at the moment of the interview there were some words he did not know how to translate and they did not approved the case. They told them to come other time with a Translator, so I guess if you feel like you can totally translate everything then I see no problem, otherwise bring a good translator. Best of luck!

Thanks for the tip Juand25. I am very fluent so I will be able to translate if my husband gets stuck, his English is pretty good though. Blacksteed maybe you should take an interpreter and not take any chances with something so important.
