  • process in removal proceedings / not approval from parents

    Hi,

I am an american citizen and my boyfriend is from Peru. He was married before and his ex wife withdrew the I130 petition, so his Green Card was denied and now he is on removal proceedings. His first court will be in 3 months. We have plans to get married, he have known each other for almost 3 years, although we are just dating for 3 months, I am sure that's what I want. But my parents do not approve our relationship. They think he is taking advantage of me and they also dont like he is from a different background than mine. I dont really care and I think they are just been too protective, but I am 29 years old and I able to take this decision. The problem is: would it interfere in our process? Does immigration care about my parents opinion in my marriage? can they be interviewed? My mom is threating me saying that if they ask her she will say this is only to get him a green card, which is not true whatsoever. Thank you.

I would seek the advice of an immigration attorney!
