    Hi guys!!

I finally got my interview date and I'm very excited but I wanted to know what are the possible questions will they be asking?

  • #2
    Congrats!

The first few questions will be about the forms you submitted and the biographic details. They may ask when you entered the US for the last time and where. Under which visa? Have you ever violated any visa/immigration restrictions? The second half is usually a little more case specific - you don't need to memorize anything for the interview. It's true what most people say here - just be genuine, don't ever guess if you don't know an answer, dress nicely and conservatively, come prepared with as many documents as possible in a binder or something - you may not need all your evidence but being prepared makes you look good and the officer will appreciate the fact that you take the process seriously. Good luck!

"Interview Notice" probably refers to the online status changing to "case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" (which can last for some time depending on how fast your field office processes its cases), while Interview Date Notice is your notification letter from USCIS with the details of the interview (date/time/place).

                Wayanne Jordanna,

Did you apply concurrent(mailed I-130, 485, etc) or non-concurrent (filed I-130 first then did your AOS packet)?

I'm just trying to figure out if they just select by random on the interviews as I had to file non-concurrent. But I read some posts and information where if you are married to a US citizen and are doing AOS you really don't have to wait so long as your visa # is a priority or something like that. But then again I could be wrong. I filed April 25 2016 and am waiting on my I-485 interview here in Houston,TX (Case says ready for interview).

Thank you and hope all goes well with you!

Hi, Mzander! I am also waiting for my interview schedule. You said in your reply to Wayanne Jordana that they may ask "have you ever violated any visa/immigration restrictions?". That has bothered me cause I was on F1 (I've stopped attending school since my husband and I got married in December 2015) and worked in the school where I was enrolled at but also worked outside the school (which I wasn't supposed to do). There's just really no way for me to survive working 19.5 hours a week in school and earning $8.99 per hour. Anyway, I got my EAD but been working even before I got that. If I will be asked this question, of course I can't lie. But then I don't know how will that affect my application. If you have any thoughts on this, please let me know. I will really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

That's a tricky one. Your application could be denied based on the fact that you worked without authorization if you admit it. The same thing can happen if they ask you specifically and you say no and then they find out you lied. I can't really tell you what to do. Maybe post the question in the forum and see what some of the experts here have to say. I'm sure you're situation isn't unique. Good luck!
