Hello,
My husband has been contracted as a 1099 worker for the past three years. His income was very low, 2013 $11000, 2014 $11000 and 2015 $13000. We do have a joint sponsor so no issues there. The problem is that he did not file because his income was so low. A month ago we attempted to efile...He had a lot of deductibles by way of car expenses that he uses for work...delivery job. We used two different sites and both said that his income was too low to file. Now we are aware that officially income over $600 should be filed...
It's just that with all his deductions the tax site prepared a PDF of his returns and basically said keep these for your records.
so our question is, should we write a letter stating this??? What do we use to support it from the IRS when his income is over $600? we also tried to mail it in three weeks ago to the Kansas location but they don't have a record of it.
We want to send our package in next week but this is driving us crazy!!!! Help!!!
thanks
