  • 8 months after I-485 interview and 1 year after PD...still waiting

My husband and I filed our I-130 and I-485 back in August of 2015. Everything in the process was going very smoothly. We had our interview in January of 2016, which went very well. At the end of the interview, the officer congratulated us and told us that within a few weeks we should get our approval and get my husbands passport stamped until his green card came in the mail. She said that the status of our I-485 should change to show we had the interview.

The next day our I-130 was approved. However, the I-485 status never changed! It has been over eight months now since our interview! I have submitted several inquires and all I receive is that our case is pending "adjudication". I made an info pass at the local office and all they could tell me is that the case is still with the officer for review. They let me hand write the officer a letter, in which I explained everything and asked for an update. I still did not receive anything. I don't know what else to do.

Anyone else with similar experience? What else can I do?

Any advice would be great!! Thanks in advance!

Not to say I'm happy your waiting like me, but its good to know my case isn't the only one taking an insane amount of time to process. We applied in August 2015, Interview in January 2016 and are still waiting for a decision on our case. We have called and made numerous inquiries, case info appointment, only for them to tell us to just keep waiting. Recently, I called and spoke to a level 2 officer, who was absolutely rude and treated me as if I was bothering him following up with my case. I am absolutely baffled at the fact that no one can give us any answers as to why our case is taking so long. I have offered to provide any additional documents or information they need so that they can make an informed decision, however we are just told the same thing every time we inquire. At this point all we can do is keep waiting, nothing we do has allowed us to gain any further details on our case. Let alone be treated rudely for following up on our application.

Waiting game: March 30, 2017 will be two years since the interview process!!!

                      HI ALL,

                      YES IT IS FRUSTRATING!
                      Got married 06/30/14.
                      Interview scheduled 03/30/2015.
The interview didn't go so well but it wasn't bad either,
we were missing some tax documents but that was it.
And we were just offended that they question why we
got married so soon like it was **** or something. Does
love have a time frame or limit for when you should get married?
I am nearly 30 so my biological clock is clicking, unless they want
to carry my future babies for me. So after the interview, she the
rude, mean lady said we will receive something in the mail. A year
pass by and nothing but my husband was able to re-new his I-765 Employment Authorization Card
so that was good. We heard from people to reach out to our Congressman of our neighborhood district
to help us. They can't really do anything but just send them a notice like what's going on with our case
and they just said it is pending and being reviewed by an officer. March this year would be two years with
no answer, it is frustrating and taking a toll on our life. We can live comfortably knowing that my husband
might be deported back or something else bad can happen. We literally worry sick and can't sleep at night.
My husband thinks we should hire a immigration lawyer to help us, has anyone tried that route? And if so,
does it work or not? I have read reviews on yelp and google that it does help. I just don't want to dish out so
much money if it will not help our case but at this point, what do we have to lose but money. Lawyer fees is
around 150-300/hr. Any help is appreciated. I feel your pain, the ones who have been waiting for YEARS.
