Time limit to file I-485 after I-140 was approved.
I don't think I-485 application works on a deadline basis. It works based on priority date. Check your priority date(Date the PERM was filed with Department of Labor). If priority date is less than or equal to the I-485 application filing date for your visa category (e.g. EB-2, EB-3, etc) and country/region of the world then you can send in your application for I-485. Else you have to wait till the visa date advances so that your priority date is less than or equal to the application processing date.
Check what date is currently being processed for your visa category and country/region of the world. Look for the title "DATES FOR FILING OF EMPLOYMENT-BASED VISA APPLICATIONS" in the visa bulletin.
Unless priority date is current, i485 cannot be filed. It could be several years for PD to become current. It's advisable to wait those years outside the US and go for an interview once you're notified you've become eligible for a visa.
