  • EAD processing time when initial evidence was asked for

    Hi Everybody :-)
I hope you can helo me regarding the following questions.
As per timeline below, so far everything has worked out.. until the moment I received
the initial evidence receipt for my I-485.
    Now quick question:
Does that mean that the EAD process will restart all over again and it will take another three months
from now until I could get my work authorization? This could be a problem since I already have a job offer
    starting November latest!

Pls. find timeline below and thank you very much!!

    Timeline
07/20/16 – Documents sent for Adjustment of Status
07/21/16 – Documents arrived in Chicago by USCIS
08/04/16 – Received receipts for both EAD & I-485 forms
08/15/16 – Received notice for biometrics
08/26/16 –Went to get biometrics done
08/28/16 – Request for Initial Evidence received (was sent 08/25/16)
(yellow paper, missing tax sheet and birth certificate)
09/03/16 – Both evidences and was sent back to Lee Summit
09/07/16 - Evidence arrived in Lee Summit

    Similar situation.

Hi sis, just sharing my timeline. I am not used on being unemployed and this adjustment of status is driving me nuts. I wish I could have atleast a work permit so I won't be so impatient. I am planning to take various exams and one exam includes showing a valid ID showing my married name and I don't have any: Green card, state ID, or even driver's license.

August 11 -AOS/EAD/AP packet sent to USCIS
    August 20 -NOA1
    September 12 -Biometrics letter received
    September 20 -Biometrics done
September 25 -RFE Request for Initial Evidence (Affidavit of Support)
November 7 -RFE response packet received by National Benefits Center/Lee's Summit MO

      Our timelines are similar

I am currently in Florida and sent all my paperwork to Chicago. Here's how my timeline looks:
      August 23, 2016 I-130, I-485 were received by USCIS
I had to resend my EAD I-765 since I sent the first form without signature
      September 12, 2016 they received my I-765
September 18, 2016 Biometrics Appointment letter
September 25, 2016 Request for evidence on I-485
      September 30, 2016 Biometrics done
October 25, 2016 USCIS received the new evidence
November 28, 2016 Filed a case inquiry online. Said they would reply December 18th the latest.

I had understood the Work Permit EAD was supposed to arrive 3 months after they receive the documents. That's only two weeks away being December 1st already. I haven't even received an approval notice on that.

If you receive RFE please refer to this link.

If RFE received is "Request for INITIAL Evidence" the clock will reset to Day 0. And will restart to Day 1 on the date when they receive the evidence. (90 days processing window)
If RFE received is "Request for Evidence" the clock will pause, eg. it's on Day 60 when they requested. And will resume day 61 on the day they received the evidence. (90 days processing window)

        Please refer to this link:
